TONY’S PEACE BY BRITTA VON ZWEIGBERGK

ABOUT THE BOOK
Tony Zweigbergk, Britta’s father, had been a fighter pilot during WWII. Now back in Civvy Street, this free-spirited former art student was finding it hard to settle down and the meagre opportunities offered by the burgeoning civil aviation industry hardly afforded him the lavish lifestyle that he desired. The consequence of this was that Britta’s childhood was largely nomadic, moving from London to Burma to India then to various locations along the south coast. Growing up in this environment opened her eyes to many new experience, both in Britain and abroad - understanding different cultures and witnessing the innovations and changes that would go on to define a new Britain. However, home life never offered the stability that she hankered after. Despite being surrounded by a loving family, the war had left a wanderlust within Tony. Material hardships were a challenge to be overcome, but the real difficulty was her father’s residual dissatisfaction with life that cast a permanent cloud over the family.
